Recumbent bicycles, and tricycles, are a growing segment of the bicycle market. They have become popular for a number of reasons, one of which is how easy and safe they are to ride compared to traditional bicycles. The recumbent, laid back, position makes it easier on your back, wrist and knees and makes it easier to ride for longer distances. Many recumbent bicycles are still as high up off the ground as a traditional bicycle however, so it’s just as dangerous if you happen to fall off the bike.

The Honda EV-Cub Electric Bike

Honda seems to be on top of new tech with many of their products, well here is what Honda thinks will be the future of motorcycles. Their EV-Club is a small, electric two-wheel drive motorcycle with retro good looks. Honda plans to release their new EV-Cub sometime next year as well. Motorcycles are usually rear-wheel drive, Honda’s new EV-Cub is 2WD (think all-wheel drive in automobiles) which they claim has more stability and traction. Not only is it safer for riders, it is also easier to ride for beginners. It should be noted however, that Yamaha has been working on 2WD motorcycles for quite some time as well. Honda seems to be the first to bring it to market with their electric EV-Cub.

Honda will also be released a cool looking communication system called LOOP, it allows riders to communicate with each other on long rides, this is possible because the EV-Cub will have virtually no engine noise like traditional motorcycles have. We’re not sure how their LOOP system works as it may be a bad idea to text and look at a communicator while riding. None-the-less it’s good to see that a company is releasing a full-fledged electric motorcycle that looks good enough for anyone to ride.

The new YikeBike is pretty different than all the other foldable bikes out there. It can fold in less than 15 seconds and is aimed at solving the age old urban mobility problems that have plagued big cities. Made of carbon fiber, it weights 22 pounds, or 10kg, and takes up 6×23.6×23.6 inches in space. It can be easily carried around town when you’re not able to ride it. It has pneumatic wheels that are in an odd configuration, but the designers claim it is a very easy folding bike to ride and manuever. Also included are an advanced electronic brake and anti-skid system, it’s kinda like ABS and traction control but for a bike. The YikeBike carbon fiber folding bike is definitely a game changer in the world of folding bikes.
