The economy has hit everyone very hard, and when people have less money for bills and for savings, then they have less to give to charities. That’s the case with many charities around the nation, well for the first time in over thirty years, the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge has raised less money than a previous year.
The anti-cancer fundraiser charity donated a check to he Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for more than $30 million. That’s quite a bit of money, but the cycling charity usually donates more than that as they saw a 14 percent drop over last year. Found, Billy Starrr said, “I think it’s fairly well known that in tough times, philanthropy is the first thing that goes with a lot of people.”
