A lot of great games and new gadgets were announced at this years E3, the two big topics so far is Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Natal and Sony’s Playstation Motion Controller addons. The Microsoft motion control concept uses no controllers and even features facial recognition technology that is said to be leaps and bounds above the current Nintendo Wii motion control console. One game category that is expected to be popular for the Xbox 360 Natal is fitness games. The fitness game market has seen a lot of growth recently, more so than any other genre of video games. Most of this can be attributed to the Nintendo Wii and the popular Wii Fit.
Ubisoft has big plans for the fitness video game market as well, their planned “Your Shape” fitness game doesn’t use a balance board at all unlike the Wii Fit. Ubisoft’s last title was focused on exercise routines, and just like an exercise video it relied on the users motivation to get off their butt and use it. Their new game comes with a USB camera device that will evaluate your body during a fitness test to help you use proper form while you exercise, kind of like having your own personal fitness coach at home. The game will even correct your bad form to make sure you get the most out of your exercise. Your Shape will also let you target certain areas of your body to help with fat loss and muscle building. It even tells you how many calories you’re burning! Will this take some of the Wii Fit’s thunder? Maybe, the Wii Fit was designed moreso for entertainment while Your Shape is purely for health and fitness. Your Shape is scheduled to be released by this holiday shopping season, just in time to help you lose that holiday weight you’re more than likely to pack on!
